Since I intend the novels I am writing to be found, I guess I should make a list of them (and try to keep it sort of up-to-date ;).
Please note: I claim copyright on all my work, even when I fail to put the copyright notice in the actual text. Posting my work on the Internet does not mean I want people to plagiarize it or republish it without my permission.
For reasons mentioned in the preface, and for reasons not mentioned, I've been focusing on Programming is Fun, and I've decided to write a sort of a tutorial on assembly language programming.
I have decided to start a blog devoted to my current works-in-progres that are novels, including
- Water and Earth a mixture of fantasy adventure and religion and
- A Marriage of Inconvenience, a college romance of convenience and inconvenience.
- Sociology 500, a Novel (Effectively a second draft.)
This is the first book of the trilogy that I am extracting from the rough draft of Economics 101. - Economics 101, a Novel (Rough draft, could be a trilogy.)
Leave two Mormon single adults who are in love with each other on a desert island all by themselves, and see if we can learn something about economics (and sociology) from them. - My version of Snow White
I decided to look a little into the back story. Definitely not Disney. - Simplifying Life (Initial draft. Maybe this is going somewhere.)
Let two single college students of different religions, on a planet in a solar system somewhat different from ours, try to learn something useful from the inhabitants of a supposedly third-world island nation. Re-working some ideas in Economics 101, and related to that in other ways as well. - Soft -- A Creation Story (Rough draft, temporarily stalled.)
See if we can imagine our own creation story, of a different solar system. Very much related to Economics 101. - A World in a Wall (Initial draft. May be good for high school level.)
Three high school boys with active imaginations accidentally send their sensei to a fantasy world that could be more than fantasy.
Derived from this fragment from when I taught Eikaiwa, twenty-some years ago.
Short (and not-so-short) riffs that might someday become novels:
- Bootstrapping
(What if I had been more willing to work with the system in college?) - A Smart Woodcutter's Woman of the Snow
(A Japanese "fairy tale" adapted to my sensibilities.) - A Little Fantasy about Intellectual Property Law
(Disparage the very idea of intellectual property!) - Colin and Sally's Blog
(Fictional children writing about school and stuff.) - [JMR201701020932: Some ideas I got from teaching private English conversation classes more than twenty years ago. One of these looks like it's becoming the novel A World in a Wall that I mention above. ]
- And, my random eikaiwa blog, which has lots of stuff that needs further separation into threads. I am indexing the various threads, here.
Oh, and this is not a novel, but it doesn't seem to be turning into a book on progamming in C, either.
[JMR201705151131:
Here is a list of rants on the topic of information security that might make a half-decent (non-fiction) book.

If you like something I have written and want to work with me, contact me. We may be able to work something out.
You can find a short description of who I am and instructions for contacting me, here: https://sites.google.com/site/joelrees/. (Yeah, I depend too much on Google's freebies.)
If something I have written gives you some ideas, and you want to try writing something of your own based on those ideas, go for it! Dig into it. Use your own words, your own grammar, your own plot lines, etc. Think about how you would have written it, and then take the time to try writing it that way.
Have fun with it. The more fun you have with it, the less likely you will be to run afoul of the laws and people's opinions. And the more you will be able to defend yourself if someone does charge you with plagiarism or copyright infringement.
If you are tempted to just copy-paste, or even sed/awk massage something I wrote and claim it as your own, well, don't blame me if such things get you your just deserts.
This life is much more fun when you do your own work.
